In Satsumasendai, Kagoshima, we are developing an AI data center cluster of up to 1GW on a site of approximately 37 hectares. Aiming to create businesses that accelerate the design, procurement, construction, logistics and maintenance of existing industries, we are building an active economic engine that generates continuous investment and employment.

Kagoshima is one of the rare regions able to supply GW-class clean power stably over the long term, and through the united efforts of its passionate residents and government it has the foundation to host advanced industries. Adjacent to Sendai Port, a designated major port, it holds advantages in both logistics and communications. Linked to the expansion of the semiconductor supply chain radiating from TSMC Kumamoto, it will become a new growth engine for southern Kyushu — a hub supplying computing power to all of Japan with AI data centers at its core.

Unlike conventional cloud facilities, AI data centers require high-density power and advanced equipment, generating large-scale capital investment and power demand in the region. They also attract the talent needed for sophisticated operations, raising the quality of employment. Furthermore, through collaboration with the semiconductor and AI industries they induce the clustering of related companies, becoming the core infrastructure that transforms the regional economy from a consumption-based to a production- and creation-based one.

This plan aligns with the Japanese government's GX policy and its policy of regionally distributed data centers, building GX-type infrastructure premised on renewable and low-carbon power. With advanced semiconductors and the AI data centers that utilize them at its core, it creates local AI demand within Japan while fostering and creating operators rooted in the region. Japanese businesses take an active role in facilities and operations, and through industry–government–academia collaboration the project generates a sustainable industrial base and new business opportunities for the region.

MW — Phase 1
Full-scale operation of a large AI data center
Expanding in stages from 350MW to bring a large-scale AI data center into full operation. Extra-high-voltage substations, battery storage and liquid/air cooling are deployed in earnest to handle large AI training and inference workloads. With a co-located Wistron AI server assembly plant and the port logistics of Sendai Port at its core, we build a regional supply chain that integrates everything from component procurement to installation.

Expanding to a cluster of up to 1GW to establish a domestic AI foundation spanning LLM creation through the social implementation of Physical AI. Contributing to the competitiveness of precision manufacturing with RAG-based LLMs for IC design, while fostering domestic players across every field of AI data centers and forming an industrial ecosystem rooted in the region.

Kai Shin Digital Infrastructure Inc. is a company that develops and operates AI data centers in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima Prefecture.

About us

In Kagoshima, blessed with decarbonized power,
a computing foundation that runs on locally produced energy.

While the spread of AI is driving rapid growth in demand for computing resources, data centers remain concentrated in metropolitan areas, and reconciling power supply with decarbonization is a challenge. We answer this challenge by building large-scale data centers in Kagoshima, and together with the prefecture, the city and Kyushu Electric Power we will realize a GW-class concentration of AI infrastructure in southern Kyushu.

Site selection determines the success of a data center build. We conduct due diligence from every angle to ensure performance and sustainability.
Design & procurement
We define the target performance and scale of the facility, and draw up realistic, cost-effective plans based on budget and schedule.
Facility supply & deployment
Procurement and deployment of the diverse equipment an AI data center needs, at fair prices. Strong support through collaboration with local construction partners.
Construction & installation
Detailed training for local construction partners. The key to building an AI data center is the skill of collaborating with partners.
Power receiving & distribution
Support for all high-voltage supplies at 6kV/20kV/220kV. Stable power and water supply against the target PUE, plus infrastructure connection.
O&M (facility management)
Operation and monitoring with GPU resource management software. Periodic inspection and maintenance of all major equipment. Refresh support on a cycle of roughly three years.
